Kate Winslet Found Herself On The Stage At Seven, But Found Glory All Through Her Life
Kate Winslet found herself on the stage at quite a young age of seven in a TV commercial. A few years down the line, in 1988, she found herself featuring in the television series Shrinks. She abandoned her studies in 1991 to take up a career in British television. She made her debut on the silver screen in Heavenly Creatures (1994), and made a mark by her performance in Sense and sensibility (1995).The world began to know her as a star when she figured in Titanic (1997). Her performance in several different movies like Iris (2001) and Little Children (2006) gathered criticism and praise from critics.
Her most spectacular performance has been with the Titanic as 17-year-old Rose DeWitt Bukater on RMS Titanic which sinks into the ocean and none of its passengers can make it to safety because of lack of lifeboats. Rose along with Jack Dawson, a character played by Leonardo Di Caprio, make it safety after a lot of adventures over the sea.
She came to be the recipient of several awards like the Academy Award for the Best Actress for acting a part in The Reader (2008), and several other awards. She also lent her voice for being the narrator in a number of documentaries and books for children. She won the Emmy Award for her performance in movies. She went on to be the youngest actress ever to be nominated for Academy Award on six different occasions.
The starlet could not find comfort and familial happiness in her marriages with Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes, renowned directors of movies. She has a son and a daughter from each marriage. She married Ned Rocknroll, a businessman in December 2012.
