Kassie De Paiva is an actress on the long-running TV show “The Days of Our Lives”. She revealed this heart wrenching message on her website this summer. She spent most of her summer (9 weeks) being hospitalized for this cancer. Kassie wanted her fans to know why she had been so “quiet lately” and released a statement on her website.
She wanted to share the great news that she will be returning to the show in her role as Eve and has started preparing for it excitedly. Even though this cancer news is an extremely personal matter, Kassie chose to share it with her fans so that they know what is going on in her life.
Kassie is suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This is a form of cancer that concerns the formation of white blood cells. The course to treat this medical condition seems promising. She mentioned that she may not need a bone marrow transplant and that she would be cured of this cancer soon.
De Paiva started her TV career in 1986 as Chelsea in the show Guiding Light, which aired on CBS. She played this part for almost 5 years and then went on to appear in different TV shows. De Paiva played Eve on DAYS in 2014, but had stopped working earlier this year. She is expected to come back onscreen again next month.
De Paiva urges her fans and readers to become bone marrow donors as their help is needed for several transplant surgeries across the country. She also encourages readers to visit The American Red Cross and find out how to become a donor for blood and platelets. This is an important cause for De Paiva.
