Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer Call Off Wedding
Bristol Palin, the oldest daughter of former vice-presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin, and Dakota Meyer, a Medal of Honor recipient, will not get married after all. The news was announced just one week before the big day.
Sarah Palin said on Facebook that "Bristol and Dakota couldn't be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding. They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held."
She did, however, invite her family and friends to Kentucky to socialize over a barbecue and to “celebrate life, in general!” The post was (somewhat pathetically) accompanied by an image of a plain which had the writing: "Trust in God's timing. It's better to wait a while and have things fall into place than to rush and have things fall apart."
Bristol Palin appealed to the public to respect her privacy and steer clear from bombastic, false headlines craving attention at all cost. "We have faith that our privacy will be respected at this time by those with decency," she said in a statement.
The pair got engaged just a few months ago during a concert in Las Vegas. Bristol wrote on her blog: "The lead singer, Gary LeVox, dedicated 'Bless the Broken Road' to us, and then Dakota got down on one knee and proposed! It's amazing to see what happens when you place everything in life in God's hands."
